This Week's Featured Zibbet Shop - ModredVintage!

>> Sunday, May 2, 2010

I didn't realize until ModredVintage contacted me with some suggestions for shops to feature that I didn't have any Vintage shops lined up. How could I have missed such an amazingly wonderful addtion to Zibbet Love? I adore vintage of all kinds, clothing, home decor, dishes, toys, they're all beautiful! And the collection I saw in ModredVintage was no exception. :)

So, off went the list of questions. Enjoy!

Tell us a bit about you and your shop.

Years ago I went to a depression glass auction. I had never heard of it beforehand, but was amazed by the colors and beauty of the glass. I was hooked and had to learn more about it. As I attended more auctions I learned more about glass, pottery, and other items. It had been a hobby of mine, but when I was no longer being given any hours from my work at home job, I decided to start ModredVintage. It's a nice fit for my stay-at-home mom schedule.

What inspires you?

I love how well made some of the older items are. Depression glass was often given out for free with a purchase of another item and considered inferior in its day, but by today's standards I would put its quality up against anything factory made. I also love the re-use side of selling vintage. Why buy new cookware when you can buy Fire-King from the 50s that will last forever and provide a unique decorative touch?

What is your favourite item in your shop and why?

This is a tough choice, as I have a fondness for a lot of my items. I would have to say the Fostoria Azure Sherbet, as I have a special regard for Elegant Depression.

What do you love about Zibbet?

I love the supportive community, everyone is so nice on the Ning Forums. I also love the coupon codes and the "customize your shop" feature. I see a lot of potential in Zibbet, and am hoping for a great future.

If the world could only know one thing about you, what would you want that to be?

I'm overall very happy with my life, family, and consider myself quite blessed. It may sound corny, but that's the way I roll.

And a few fun questions:

If you were a colour, which one would you be?

Red. No reason, I just like red.

Coffee or tea?

I used to be a tea person, then I had kids. Coffee all the way.

This Week's Featured Zibbet Shop - AF Photo's!

>> Monday, April 19, 2010

Introducing this week's Featured Zibbet Shop - AF Photo's!

I have to tell you, I love this shop. I'm a photographer myself, so I'm always drawn in by intriguing photo's when I'm browsing. Then, when I found out this shop not only sold photo's, but bath and body and jewellery too, well, I was just in heaven!

Enjoy the interview!

Tell us a bit about you and your shop

A little mayhem about me, I like to think of my shop as a random collection of stuff, I dont want to be like labeled as the photo girl, but rather, hey AFphotos has all kinds of cool stuff. Although like my profile says, I love color and nature and its what I enjoy the most in life.

What inspires you?

I would say Color is what inspires me, without it, I think a lot of things would be different. Photographers, Artists, Bakers, Designers, Fashion, none of that would be as vibrant jobs as they are today without color.

What is your favourite item in your shop and why?

My favorite item right now in my shop would have to be the mother of pear earrings They are simple and Beautiful all at the same time. They can be worn to so many things, given as a gift to a bride to be, mother's day thats coming up, of just to treat yourself.

If the world could only know one thing about you, what would you want that to be?

If the world could know one thing about Ashley Filczer is I try not to settle for less then the best of me.

And a few fun questions:

If you were a colour, which one would you be?

If I were a color I would be green, not only is it my favorite but I think its a color that occurs a lot in nature and some very important things come in green. To quote someone" It anit easy being green"

What did you have for breakfast this morning?

Im not a breakfast person really and if I do sit down to have it, I over do it, with insanely great waffles and bacon and muffins and strawberrys with whipped cream.

Coffee or tea?

Tea would be my choice of the two, not much of a coffee drinker and anyone of my coworkers could tell you that. Not into caffinee so much.

This Week's Featured Zibbet Shop - Man in the Moon Herbs!

>> Monday, April 5, 2010

I have to admit something here before I start. I'm a wannabe gardener. There, I said it.
Every year, as spring approaches, my fingers start to itch. I want to go out and play in the dirt. I buy seeds, and gardening gloves and window sill greenhouses. I start tiny little seeds that grow into respectable seedlings. Then, after browbeating hubby into tilling the garden, I happily dance out and plant my defenceless little plants in the garden.

Then, once the weeds start to grown, I lose interest. It's too hot out there. I don't like being on my hands and knees in the garden in the beating sun. So, my poor defenceless little plants struggle to survive all summer long. Usually they do give up a fruit or a vegetable or two, but really, I shouldn't even try.

That is why I'm always so in awe of those who can not only garden, but garden successfully. I rely on people like Man in the Moon Herbs. Without dedicated gardeners like her, I'd never, ever have the pretty things I love. Or food for that matter. :)

Tell us a bit about you and your shop.

I started Man in the Moon Herbs almost 15 years ago. I am a compulsive gardener and was looking for a way to raise money for new plants- to make my gardening habit self supporting so to speak. I began drying some of the flowers and herbs to make wreaths to sell and started experimenting with the herbs medicinally for personal use. Customers and friends began requesting other botanically based items like soaps and sachets so one by one I learned how to do each new project. Fortunately I was laid off from my full time job a couple of years in and was able to devote all my time to my herbal projects!

What inspires you?

I never know what will inspire me next. It could be a customers suggestion, the scent of a flower, a beautiful fabric and many times inspiration comes in dreams!

What is your favourite item in your shop and why?

One of my all time favorite products is my Lavender Laundry Detergent. It's the only laundry soap I have been using for 8-9 years. It's easy on the environment and low sudsing. We have a well and septic system and I am very concerned about what we put down the drain. I believe if we all take care of our little piece of the Earth we can collectively make a huge difference in the health of our planet.

What do you love about Zibbet?

I really like how easy it is to set up shop at Zibbet! The single monthly fee and ability to customize your shop were big selling points for me.

If the world could only know one thing about you, what would you want that to be?

If the world could know one thing about me it would be that I get cranky if I can't get my hands in the dirt on a regular basis! A manicure is wasted on these fingers!

If you were a colour, which one would you be?

If I was a color I would have to be, what else-lavender!

Coffee or tea?

Tea is nice but I need serious coffee to jump start me in the morning.
